Beauty Spotlight: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

I think we all worry that, when we go out to eat, our lipstick is going to wear off.  You wanna look nice and go to an all-you-can-eat buffet?  You better have some nice, longlasting lipstick.  Thankfully, NYX seems to have created the perfect formula, because I’ve found the perfect type of lipstick that applies velvety smooth and lasts for hours in its same, vivid brightness.

About the brand

NYX is a pretty popular brand, known for their cheaply-priced but good quality cosmetics.  Having been a long time fan of NYX, I’ve used and owned most of their products, but this lip cream seriously caught me off guard on Monday when I used it.  Started in Los Angeles in 1999, this makeup brand can be found in almost any department or makeup store.  To top it off, Nyx is cruelty-free and vegan!

About the product

I actually just got this lip cream in my Ipsy bag this month, and hadn’t worn it until last Monday.

I have the same color in a deep blue shade called “Moscow” but it definitely wasn’t as pigmented as this (and I also never have the chance to wear blue lipstick).  I assume all of their lip creams are the same.  The shade I’m showcasing is a bright pink with cool undertones named after the city Ibiza in Spain.  Each unique shade is named after a different city; there are 46 different shades!  I decided last minute to wear this on my way to an all-you-can-eat meat Brazilian steakhouse.  I mentioned in my Ipsy review that this smelled like vanilla icing, and just one layer it coated my lips really strongly!  I didn’t really expect it to last the whole night, but when I got back to my aunt’s house and went to the bathroom, I noticed it was still mostly in tact!  Once it dries on, it’s definitely there for good.  This lip cream literally saved my life.  Despite getting this for “free” in my Ipsy bag, you can easily buy this in either the nearest department store, or on their website for only $6.50!  I included a before and after pic (the first one is in natural lighting, the second is artificial because it was night time when I took it).  You can see where it wore down on the inside, but other than that, it stayed on great!
